Hello All, If this is thwe wrong place for this message please feel free to change to correct place. Hi, My name is Angelo i'm 32 and i'm spotter from Portugal, and i belong to the Portugusese Spotters Association. Actually i'm living and working in Qatar for Qatar Airways. In Augsut i'll be moving to Riga to live and work. Is the plane spotting in Latvia legal? We can do it without any problem with the local police? Can i use my Air Band Radio normally? In August if possible i'd like to meet you in person and share some historys of our hobbie. Best Regards Hope to see you all in Riga next August. Angelo Rosa

does this mean that Qatar will open it's services in Riga? I found that hard to believe :) Anyway, taking pictures of airplanes is perfectly ok and legal, local security personnel is already used to "people around the fence" so they won't give you any trouble as long as you don't try to climb over or do anything inappropriate I can't imagine how using your radio just to listen could not be legal... as long as you don't mess with the airwaves you won't have any problems. I suppose we are a small friendly group so "party next to the fence" could be fun, see you then ;)

Dear mārtiņš, No, unfortunetely Qatar Airways it's not starting to fly to Riga. I'm moving to an Latvian Airline. Dear Sancho, Thanks. Maybe some day we can have an exchange spotting trip with my portugueses association :):) We go to Lisbon from Riga, and then they will come to Riga :) And i'd like to apologise for not speaking and writting in Latvian yet. I'll take a course of latvian after arriving in Riga. Best Regards

oh, but you have to tell us more :) Are you a pilot? Cabin Crew? As far as I know, none of the Latvian airlines have as BIG and FANCY airplanes as Qatar. May I ask, what made you choose to continue your career in this particular (by any chance - lime green tailed?) airline? I'm sorry if I'm being to nosy
