Privacy policy
Effective from 26 October 2026
1. Who we are
aviofoto.lv is run by Andris Jeršovs. Send questions about privacy and requests about your data through our contact form, choosing the topic “Privacy / my data”.
2. What we do not use
- No analytics tools. We do not use Google Analytics or any similar tracking software. We do not build visitor profiles and do not show targeted advertising.
- No tracking cookies. The site stores only the cookies it needs to work:
- the sign-in session cookie, which keeps you signed in;
- your settings, such as the chosen language or a hidden METAR strip.
These cookies are not used for tracking and are not passed to third parties.
3. IP addresses
We do not store IP addresses in readable form. Where an address is needed — for example to count one visitor once a day in the view counter, or to protect the site against password guessing — it is stored as a one-way keyed hash from which the address cannot be recovered. View records are deleted after one week.
For network protection, IP addresses may briefly appear in the technical logs of the server and of the network protection service (Cloudflare). These logs are used only for security and troubleshooting, and are deleted automatically.
4. What we store about registered members
- An email address is required. It is needed to sign in, to recover a forgotten password and to confirm your account. Publishing photos, comments and forum posts is possible only with a confirmed email address. We never show your email address to other members.
- Username and password. Your password is stored only in encrypted form.
- Every other profile field is optional. These are, for example, your real name, place of residence, photo equipment and description. You may write whatever you like in them or leave them empty. If you fill them in, they are visible on your public profile.
- What you publish. Photos, comments and forum posts are public, together with your username. Published photos may also be shared on aviofoto.lv’s own social media accounts (for example Mastodon), credited to their author.
5. Email
We send the messages your account needs: confirmation and password recovery. Occasionally we may send a reminder about what is new on the site. Every such message carries a link that unsubscribes you with one click. Messages your account needs will still be sent.
6. Who receives data
We do not sell or rent your data. Data is passed only to the service providers the site cannot work without:
- Cloudflare: network protection and checking that a form is filled in by a person;
- Our email provider: delivering messages.
We disclose data to public authorities only where the law requires it.
7. How long we keep data
- Account data is kept for as long as the account exists.
- When an account is deleted, its personal data is deleted.
- Published photos and posts may remain on the site as part of the album and its discussions, unless you ask for them to be removed.
- Backups are overwritten regularly.
8. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:
- receive your data;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict its processing;
- object to its processing.
You can correct most of your profile yourself, on your profile page. For anything else, write to us through the contact form, choosing the topic “Privacy / my data”. We will answer within a month.
If you believe your data is being processed incorrectly, you may lodge a complaint with the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. This is a translation; where it differs from the Latvian version, the Latvian version applies.
