On May 28, 2022 Turkish Airlines flight TK413 from Istanbul to Moscow Vnukovo entered Russian airspace and entered a holding pattern shortly after. The A/C was Airbus A321 with registration TC-JRT. According to the statement made by the airline, some technical malfunction occurred in the plane. Soon after, a decision was made to divert to Vilnius. Probably the airline was afraid, that in case they land in Russia it will be impossible to deliver spare parts and fix the aircraft. The A/C made an uneventful landing in Vilnius, despite that local emergency services were ready to act if something happens. The aircraft landed at approximately 13:25 local time, and the replacement A321 with registration TC-JRO was dispatched to Vilnius, at approximately 22:20 local time the plane finally departed to Moscow. On the same night, TC-JRT was ferried back to Istanbul after repair. |
